ABOUT THE EVENT

For years, the best-kept secret in DC was the Southwest Waterfront. It seemed only the locals knew about our beautiful neighborhood. But now, in-step with the rest of the city, our serene enclave is booming. Major attractions such as the DC Wharf (The Wharf) and sports arenas are complementing our long-time anchors such as Arena Stage and the Maine Avenue Fish Market. Walking from our homes to a wide selection of world-class restaurants is now commonplace, but we are still able to maintain the spirit of our close-knit community.

It is in this spirit that we announce the first ever “Homes of the Southwest Waterfront” House Tour on Oct. 7, 2018. Sponsored by the Waterfront Village and other local businesses and citizens, this event will showcase the heretofore hidden gems of Southwest homes to highlight the history and diversity of our unique neighborhood.

All proceeds will benefit the Waterfront Village whose mission is to provide essential services to our friends and neighbors, 62 and older, which allow them to stay in their homes as long as they are physically and mentally able. Please join us in this worthy cause.

DC State Fair
Sep

DC State Fair

The DC State Fair is a free showcase of the District’s agricultural and creative talents and a daylong celebration of all things homegrown. While the DC State Fair is inspired by time-honored state fair traditions—growing and gardening, animal husbandry, and deep-fried foods—it also honors the things that make the District of Columbia unique. This means the DC State Fair holds competitions to find the tastiest mumbo sauce, best honey, and most creative hula hoopers in the city; puts on a Pet Parade instead of a pig race; and works with local businesses and organizations that are committed to helping our community thrive.

The ninth annual DC State Fair will take place Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Waterfront Station in Southwest DC (375 and 425 M St. SW). Check www.dcstatefair.org for updates on the event.

Be prepared! Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated during the event! DC Water will be on site with a filling station for all your H2O needs! You should also consider tucking a resusable shopping bag in your pocket. Bring your treasures home from the fair in a sustainable way, and help make the fair more green!
