Bike

Southwest DC is one of the most bikable areas in The District. With mature tree canopy to provide shade and waterfront views, you'll want to leave the car home. There are multiple Capital Bikeshare stations in the SWBID area.


Boat

Dock at The Wharf - From the Potomac River, travel north on the Washington Channel to arrive at the Southwest Waterfront. Please check with The Wharf's marinas for availability and docking fees. The Wharf's Coordinates: N 38° 52.600’ / W 077° 01.334’

Water Taxi - If you’re visiting the Southwest Waterfront the water taxi is a great way to travel to the area. The water taxi arrives and departs from The Wharf’s Transit Pier and travels to Georgetown in DC, Old Town Alexandria and in the spring National Harbor. View the schedule here.

Wharf Jitney - Take the Wharf Jitney from Recreation Pier to East Potomac Park. The Jitney has daily service from April - November, Weekend and holidays only March - December. For more information about the Wharf Jitney click here.


Metro

There are four Metro Stations that serve the Southwest BID area: L'enfant Plaza, which connects to the blue, orange, yellow, green, and silver lines, Waterfront Station, Smithsonian and Federal Center SW. View a full Washington Area Transit Authority Map or Plan Your Trip.


Parking

Rail 

The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) provides service to and from L'Enfant Plaza Monday through Friday.


Shuttle

The SW Neighborhood Shuttle is free and open to the public. The shuttle runs daily with 10-minute headways. It travels between The Wharf, L’Enfant Plaza Metro/VRE station (7th St. and Maryland Ave. SW), the National Mall (7th St. at Independence Ave. SW), and L’Enfant Plaza on 10th St. SW (future home of the International Spy Museum).
