A better, More Beautiful

Southwest D.C.

A Vision

We are working to redefine the status quo for cleanliness, the state of public infrastructure, beautification, and placemaking throughout Southwest D.C.

The Southwest Business Improvement District (SWBID) is situated in the Southwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. It weaves together three distinct areas in the 500 acres south of the National Mall: Federal Center South, housing 26 federal headquarters; the Southwest neighborhood, centered around the Waterfront Metrorail Station; and the transformational District Wharf development, located on the waterfront.

Annual Visitors

With the National Mall on our Northern boarder, the District Wharf on the waterfront and major attractions throughout, we draw visitors from around the world.

Days of Live music

From Westminster Jazz Night to The Anthem and everything in between, Southwest is rich in live music.

Acres of Parkland

Southwest is covered in green spaces for play and rest.

Our Work

We lead initiatives, energize community groups, and convene stakeholders on a wide range of neighborhood topics, including transportation, hospitality, building management, and the arts, to work towards a better and more beautiful neighborhood.

Working with the Southwest Community Foundation, we have developed a new vision for a “town center park” to be built on city property at the intersection of 4th and I Streets SW.

We are committed to problem-solving and experimentation with mobility. We sponsor a free SW Shuttle and we are convening stakeholders around autonomous vehicle solutions.

Hello, Neighbor

We’ve partnered with local artists to put together a Hello, Neighbor! video series spotlighting residents of Southwest, D.C.
