SWBID lead a visioning process around connecting the public space that stretches from the Southwest Duck Pond Park to the 3rd and I St Park.
See the Town Center Parks Vision PlanSWBID, Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and the DC Department of General Services (DGS) are committed to revitalizing the Southwest park system in consultation with the community to create a space that brings pride and connection to our neighborhood.
In 2019, SWBID received funding from The Southwest Community Foundation to both assess and plan for a renovation to the Southwest Duck Pond and create a vision for the larger Town Center Park system. DGS and DPR is excited to build on the work that the community has put into the Southwest Duck Pond and the connection of all the parks on I Street SW.
With critical guidance from our community advisory group and detailed feedback from the community at large, we’ve put together a high-level vision plan in which each park space will have a unique purpose; be it for play, special events, or relaxation.
